Crashpads / Axle protectors & Fork protectors

It only takes a moment of inattention and it happens: The motorcycle tilts to the side and falls over. It's a good thing you protected your bike from damage withmotorcycle crash pads from our range! In order to protect your valuable machine in the best possible way, you will find the following in the TecBike range:

  • Motorcycle crash pads
  • Fork protectors
  • Axle protectors
  • Covers for rear wheel nuts
  • Motorcycle crash pads - small parts and big effect

In the event of an accident or a rollover, paint damage to the fairing is usually the least of your worries. If the bike tips to one side, there is a risk that the frame will warp. A repair is expensive. Therefore, our motorcycle crash pads are a worthwhile investment for every biker.

Crash pad, axle and fork protectors

Hardly any other component is discussed as intensively in the motorcycle scene as the crash pad. Many bikersare concerned that these add-on parts could make the consequences of a crash even worse.

In fact, if you attach the protectors too rigidly to the engine or frame, they can cause additional damage in the event of a crash or rollover. In the past there have been cases where such constructions have irreparably damaged not only the frame but also the engine case. However, these were often self-made parts. They consisted of solid plastic round material. Bolted to the engine bolts, they protruded far beyond the actual silhouettes of the motorcycles.

Ifthe motorcycle slid now over the asphalt, the protectors protected first. Water run gutters or a curb that lay in the slide path changed the whole thing dramatically. The large plastic cylinder could get caught in it and the long lever arm not only cracked the frame-fixed bolting. The entire motor housing also fell victim to these forces.

It all depends on the correct assembly

To avoid this effect as much as possible, it is important to mount the motorcycle crash pads as close as possible to the frame or engine housing. Accessory components that protrude over the fairing with long metal sleeves directly on the engine bolt and also with plastic caps that stick out far are not advisable. At first glance, it would seem that such a protruding design would certainlyprotect the fairing parts. However, they can cause expensive damage in the event of a simple rollover.

Special plastics for motorcycle crash pads

These faulty designs have largely disappeared from the roads today. They have been replaced by protectors that either bolt over a flexible base plate or use an intermediate adapter. The intermediate elements bend under the impact force and destroy the introduced energy.

Manufacturers often install a kind of shock absorber between the plastic protector and the bolted connection. It consists of elastic and soft plastic. It can absorb the impact. A few years ago, the trend was towards rectangular protectors. Although they look elegant, they are not always useful: If the bike slides in the direction of travel at exactly the intended angle, these components will work. If the bike turns uncontrollably at right angles to the trajectory, or rather the slide, there is a risk that the edges will catch. As a result, the engine or frame will be damaged via the bolting points.

Mushroom-shaped and round protective caps without edges make sense

While they may not be quite as visually appealing as their square counterparts, mushroom-shapedprotective caps without edges and rounded are the more sensible solution. For effective protection of the fairing from contact with the ground, at least three contact points must protrude above it. These are usually the handlebar ends. To protect them, plastic or steel plugs are used to cushion the impact and create a sufficient distance to the asphalt.

To protect the fork and swingarm from ugly drag marks or further damage, we carry special fork protectors and axle protectors. These components have a short lever and a relatively large contact surface. Even if they get caught in the road surface, they do not cause much damage.

Crashpad: chic design and protection for motorcycles

In our TecBike online shop, you can get the motorcycle crash pad in numerous variants and for almost allcommon motorcycles. You can choose protectors in elegant black or set great accents with coloured components. We carry motorcyclecrash pads from popular manufacturers. We also have a suitable solution for you for special models.

The impact bodies of the extremely robust spacers are made of different materials. Special plastics guarantee optimum dragging properties as well as high impact and abrasion resistance. Thanks to their slim shape, the crash pads fit modern, sporty motorcycles as well as classic ones. In addition, they "hide" their enormous durability: crash pads and axle protectors absorb the impact just like fork protectors. Drag marks on the machine are reduced or even prevented altogether if your motorcycle starts to skid.

Fitting motorcycle crash pads - this is how it's done

Fitting the practical little things is very easy: You simply mount them on the original mounting points on the frame or fairing. No preparatory measures or cutting out of the fairing are necessary.

Effective protection in the event of a motorcycle crash

Even if every biker hopes to be spared from a motorcycle accident - if you have taken precautions, you can reduce or minimize the effects on you and your machine in the event of damage. We are happy to support you in this and offer you a wide range of safety products. Do you have any questions about our products? We will be happy to advise you in detail and look forward to meeting you!
