Standard exhaust systems are subject to increasingly strict regulations. This is usually at the expense of the associated silencers. They are getting heavier and bigger, but the sound is getting thinner and thinner. Mufflers and silencers as well as products like Akrapovic exhaust systems are much quieter and offer an individual look for the motorcycle. They also sound much better than their production counterparts.

In addition: In many cases, these offers also offer a power output that may well exceed the original values. The torque is noticeably more linear. The chic motorcycle accessories can also score points in terms of driving dynamics. A significantly lower weight improves the driving dynamics of your two-wheeled companion. Usually such a replacement is easy, after all, changing a motorcycle exhaust is not for nothing one of the most popular tuning measures.

It all starts with Igor Akrapovic. He is successful as a racing driver and wins numerous prizes. In 1991 he founded his own company and since then he has been hunting for the highest precision. This is reflected in all products of the manufacturer. So it is not surprising that the breakthrough in international motorsport was achieved as early as 1993. In addition to products for two and four-wheeled motorsport, the Slovenians also develop Akrapovice exhaust systems for regular road traffic. Motorcycle exhaust systems - so there is no rude awakening

Exhaust systems for motorcycles are not only a big topic for bikers. The manufacturers have recognized the trend and therefore offer extensive assortments for tuning. A fat sound and a better look together with a performance increase arouse desires. But whoever dares to make a conversion today will quickly be confronted with an almost opaque jungle of paragraphs.

The exhaust is the last piece of motorcycle that has to be overcome by the burnt mixture. Therefore it is under very sharp observation by the law enforcement officers. After all, it is not only music that is played here (which not necessarily pleases everyone), but also the emission values have to be considered. On exhaust systems of serial bikes this does not seem to be very inspiring from an aesthetic point of view and some "bags" look more like foreign bodies.

Slip-On or do you prefer a completely new system?

If the exhaust should be exchanged, you have two possibilities. You choose a complete system in our assortment. It reaches from the cylinder head outlets to the end cap of the muffler. Alternatively we offer so-called Slip-On solutions.

With this variant you get an attractive alternative for your previous rear silencer. It is a real eye-catcher on every motorcycle. The exchange is comparatively simple.

First you have to dismantle the serial counterpart. In the next step you simply slide the new accessory over the now open pipe. Hence the name (slip on). If optics and sound are the focus of the measures, this variant is the most practicable solution. The manufacturers of these motorcycle accessories are allowed to keep within a legally guaranteed limit of five percent of the registered noise level of the series system.

The volume, which is measured in decibels, in short dB, increases progressively to the value. If a standard system is registered at 95 dB, almost 100 dB may be achieved with the accessories. Manufacturers like Bodis leave a few percent buffer from the start. This avoids any problems.

Compared to complete systems, the smart accessories for mufflers score points with a considerably lower purchase price. Whoever hopes for an increase in performance here usually does so in vain.

If you would like to treat yourself to a new complete system with manifold, the catalytic converter in the manifold system should not be missing for most motorcycle models from a first registration in 2006.

Use - an important question for the purchase decision

How do you move your bike? Do you ride it only on the road? Do you use it equally on the road and on the race track or exclusively on the race track? This not only has a significant influence on the permitted noise emission. Racing tracks in Germany are subject to ever stricter noise regulations. A good and open silencer is part of the basic tuning for exclusive sport use. This, in combination with a reasonable tuning, is the first step to more performance. However, on more and more race tracks, noise is becoming a real problem. Therefore we recommend: Orient yourself on the tracks you want to ride frequently.

The approval for road traffic

If an exhaust system is approved, it has a so-called E-number. It is firmly stamped in. Please note that not every exhaust system is approved for every motorcycle.
