License plate screws for motorcycle license plates
A number plate is emblazoned on the rear of every motorcycle. Visually, they differ considerably from the car variant: they are significantly smaller and, until April 2011, exclusively in square form (minimum size 20 x 20 cm). Since then, bikers have also had the option of choosing motorcycle number plates in a smaller format with dimensions of 18 x 20 cm. Whether you want to use the classic "pie plate" or the small format for your bike, the number plate must besecurely fastened to the holder with number plate screws. In our TecBike range you will find
- License plate screw set, Torx
- For license plate screws set with flange
- Screw set for motorcycle license plate without flange
- Set of license plate screws with blue, white and black caps
- Set of screws with white caps
Information and requirements for motorcycle license plates
Every motorcycle, whether with or without a sidecar, must have a valid license plate in Germany, just like quads, trikes or other related single-track (two-wheeled) vehicles. In the case of a motorcycle, it is generally necessary to attach it to the rear of the vehicle in a clearly visible position. Whether it is a year-round or seasonal license plate is irrelevant.
Unlike cars, two-wheel license plates comein different sizes and there are some mounting requirements associated with them. As mentioned earlier, until 2011, there were large license plates. Today, you have the option of choosing a smaller plate for your vehicle and applying for it at the relevant registration office.
The smaller number plates may be between 180 and 220 millimetres wide and are generally 200 millimetres high. As the motorcycle is considerably narrower than the car, these plates blend in more harmoniously with the overall design of the machine.
The regulations for light motorcycles are somewhat different. They require special licence plates with dimensions of up to 225 millimetres in width. In contrast to the "large" number plate, the lightweight version is only 130 millimetres high.
Secure hold: license plate screws from TecBike
The law requires thatmotorcycle license plates are attached exactly as the regulations specify. However, you also have a certain amount of leeway here:
- The lower edge of the license plate must be at least 200 mm above the road.
- The upper edge of the number plate must not end more than 1,500 mm above the road.
- The number plate must be fully visible from any angle.
- The upper edge may be tilted forward a maximum of 30 degrees, the lower edge 15 degrees.
As a rule, production bikes are already equipped with anumber plate holder. If you want to customise your bike, you will find a wide range of licence plate holders in our range, which you can mount on the rear, on the rear fender or on the side in accordance with the applicable regulations.
To prevent the number plate from rattling or even falling off, it is essential to mount it securely and permanently. For this purpose, we offer you various screw sets that allow universal use. These sets consist of screws with differently coloured screw heads:
- 1 screw in blue
- 3 screws with white screw heads and
- 2 black screw heads
Torx, Allen and slotted - mark screws with & without flange
When a screw is screwed into a workpiece, high and considerable forces are generated. The classic screw has a slot into which the tool is inserted to screw it in or out. Here there is a danger that the tip of the screwdriver slips out sideways, so a sure instinct is required when working.
The situation is different with so-called "Torx screws". Torx comes from the English term "torque" for torque. It describes a special driving profile for screws, a so-called polygonal shape. It reminds of a six-pointed star, whose corners and tips are rounded. With this shape, you can safely work with a significantly higher torque without damaging the inner profile or slipping off the tool. As an alternative to Torx, you can also find Allen screws in our range.
