Footrests - Complete footrest systems & footrest sets for your motorcycle
Footrests for the motorcycle are indispensable elements on every bike. In our shop we offer you complete footrest systems for normal gearshift and reverse gearshift in different versions with ABE, TÜV part certificate or for the race track (without approval for the area of the StVZO). The range is completed by footrest kits, spare parts and covers for many motorcycle models
Buying footrests - What you should pay attention to
Pedals for motorcycles come in many shapes. For a long time now, you have almost free choice when it comes to colour. Trendy and colourful rests are always an eye-catcher. Nevertheless, even with these attachments, safety and purpose must be in the foreground. Therefore, a stable design made of high-quality and robust materials and solid workmanship is a must for the purchase decision. Furthermore you should consider that the system requires a TÜV approval in any case, if you want to use it on public roads. The situation is different with motorcycle footrests, which were developed exclusively for the race track. They do not have road approval.
It all depends on the grip
Apart from visual aspects, your safety plays a decisive role in the purchase decision. Depending on the motorcycle fairing, you are often left virtually unprotected by the weather conditions on your bike. Not only tyres and chassis have to show what they can do under adverse weather conditions. The footrest system should also be able to cope with them without any problems. Models that offer maximum grip even in wet conditions guarantee optimum safety. Even in extreme situations, perfect grip is essential at all times in order to react appropriately. It is therefore recommended to attach great importance to the material of the footrests. Of course, aluminium pedals are real eye-catchers on the bike. Nevertheless, classic rubber still leads the way in all new and further developments. At the same time it is important that the surrounding materials are also corrosion-resistant
Comfort or rather resting for racing?
In our shop you can get the footrests for you and your pillion rider in different shapes. Trendy and colourful sets in round shape for a sporty look. The racing version not only offers excellent support for your feet. Thanks to their semicircular and hollow shape, they also help to save weight. Versions with a combination of proven rubber and lightweight aluminium score points with excellent grip even in the wet.
Anodized workpieces are a special feast for the eyes. What is the anodising process? This is a method of providing the surface of aluminium with a protective layer. The advantage of this process is that the top metal layer of the workpiece is used to form a very thin and at the same time dense oxide layer. It is completely transparent. This offers the possibility of colouring it. The colour selection ranges from silver and black to gold, red, green and violet. Aluminium surfaces without this additional protection quickly become rough and unsightly matt.
Vario footrests - not only for racing enthusiastic bikers
A complete footrest system consists of various components. In addition to the actual footrests for the feet, the equipment includes a brake and gear lever as well as a secure fastening possibility to the frame. Multivariable systems are particularly practical. The products in our shop fit to different motorcycle models. The models allow a wide range of adjustment possibilities. You can adjust the footrest to your own physical requirements. The step length and the shifting travel are also adjustable
High-quality systems have their price
The trade offers the footrest kit and complete systems in many price categories and versions. At first glance, it is not easy to see the difference between expensive and cheap versions. Basically the individual parts of all systems are visually very attractive and are made of milled aluminium. The footrest systems in our shop are also characterized by a solid and very clean workmanship. The machining edges of the individual components score points with an even and clean deburring.
No matter whether it is a cheap model or an expensive system, they have bearings. Ball or needle bearings are mounted here. More expensive systems use high-quality precision bearings, which are correspondingly free of play. Systems with plain bearing bushes require good sealing at the pivoting and joint points. If they are of inferior quality or do not fit properly, dirt and moisture can penetrate into the interior. The result is sluggishness and perhaps even rust. We therefore recommend: At every major inspection, take the detent system apart. Thoroughly clean the bearings and then re-grease them
ABE, TÜV parts certificate or completely without?
If you want to use the footrests and pillion footrests in public traffic, the add-on parts require a so-called sample or parts certificate and/or an ABE (General Operating License). The part certificate is issued by testing agencies such as TÜV, KÜS or Dekra. The inspectors of the local testing centre inspect the add-on parts and an entry is made in the vehicle documents. So-called full certificates can be stamped by the installing dealer. A company without an expert opinion and/or entry is threatened with a point in Flensburg and a corresponding fine
Motorcycle footrest fitting by yourself - Only something for qualified mechanics?
The attachment of these parts is not a big witchcraft. Should you decide to do the work yourself, this should not be a problem with the right tools and a bit of manual skill. Comprehensible and detailed mounting instructions will guide you through the assembly.
