Exhaust bracket in carbon, stainless steel or aluminium / Akrapovic spare parts

The exhaust system and especially the end silencer are so much more than just functional elements on a motorcycle. With its help your bike gets an unmistakable look. But it is not only the look, but also the characteristic sound of a high-quality exhaust systemthat strongly influences the individual overall impression of the bike. The exhaust bracket is an important part of the whole system and also contributes to the visual effect. Our assortment offers you a wide range of exclusive and partly universal usable mounting parts from

  • Akrapovic,
  • Perfect Parts and
  • R&G Racing.

The choice of materials also leaves virtually nothing to be desired. Exhaust mounts made of stainless steel or aluminum not only look great, they are robust and durable.

Aluminium vs. stainless steel - what is the difference

Stainless steel and aluminium - these two metals have long been an integral part of our everyday lives. This also applies to vehicle construction. For the designers of motorcycle add-on parts, it isimportant tofind out which metals make the most sense for the planned construction. In our shop you can get the brackets in both versions. We have compared the materials for the muffler suspensionfor you.

The weight

The significant difference in weight is a major difference between the two metals. Aluminium weighs only about one third of the weight of stainless steel, but has a comparable stability.

At first glance, this material appears to be the ideal choice, as every additional gram of aluminium is important for a motorcycle. Nevertheless, it is worth taking a closer look at other factors as well. If aluminium is exposed to heat, it reacts much more susceptible than the steel variant, and the expansion during heat transfer is also greater.

Stainless steel is comparatively easy to weld and join. The situation is somewhat different with aluminium. Here a hardened alloy form must be used. If the two materials are to be joined together, a so-called encapsulation is essential to prevent contact corrosion.

The corrosion behaviour

Corrosion behaviour is very important for use in vehicle construction. Although stainless steel is generally considered to be rust-free, the practical situation is different. Here the exact composition of the stainless steel grade plays a decisive role. Aluminium, on the other hand, protects itself against rust through oxidation.

Both metals can be provided with an outer oxide layer. Aluminium can be processed chemically and electromagnetically. In the case of stainless steel, anodising is only possible in the chemical variant, i.e. burnishing (immersion in a chemical bath).

A look at the catalogue of fines - what is allowed during exhaust tuning?

With exhaust tuning, the sound optimization is the most important thing. If you make the appropriate modifications to the motorcycle, optical reasons also play an important role. So that your creative measures are not slowed down by the responsible TÜV inspector, it is advisable to have a look at the legal regulations in advance. Otherwise, changes to the exhaust system can result in serious sanctions.

What changes to the exhaust system are possible?

Basically, tuning of the tailpipe, the mufflers and the catalytic converter is possible. By the way: If you remove the db-killer on your exhaust system, it will exceed the prescribed maximum volume. It is generally not allowed to remove this component. If you do not keep to the specifications of the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations), the vehicle no longer corresponds to the type approval, which usually expires.

The tail pipe tuning

In addition to acoustic and performance-oriented changes, many bikers are also interested in visual aspects. The tuning of the end pipe falls into this area. With the exhaust system this part is completely visible. While the "standard bags" usually look rather unimpressive, manufacturers like Akrapovic offer real gems to enhance the look of your rear end.

If you use an exchange tube, the conversion is quick and usually uncomplicated. To do this, you remove the factory end tube and replace it with a suitable model that fits your machine and your requirements. In our shop we offer you matching exhaust mounts.

New exhaust bracket from the TecBike Shop

To prevent it from rattling or dragging during the ride, the exhaust must befirmly attachedto the motorcycle. If the exhaust holder has come loose, immediate action is required. The risk of falling or losing parts would be too great.

TecBike offers you a wide range of options for motorcycle conversions. Universal spare parts and exhaust mounts are part of our assortment as well as model-specific parts. Well-known manufacturers such as R&G or Akrapovic stand for precisely manufactured add-on and spare parts with a long service life. Do you still have questions about the exhaust bracket? Then please contact us, we look forward to hearing from you!
