How to find the right mounting stand
With the exception of a sidecar, a motorcycle will not usually stand upright on its own. There are a number of ways to ensure that your bike stands securely. This not only simplifies all maintenance and repair work, but also makes it easier to store and manoeuvre the bike. We havecompileda brief overview of the most common motorcycle jacks andmotorcycle stands for you:
The motorcycle rocker
Regardless of whether you use the motorcycle rocker for parking in the garage, as additional security on the lifting platform or as a transport stand: It ensures a high level of stability for your machine. The rocker function of this stand variant gives it its name: You push the front wheel into the stand via a rocker. Once it has reached its holding position, the rocker encloses the wheel from behind and thus holds the bike safely in its position. Even heavy touring bikes can be secured in this way without outside help and without much effort.
Single-arm stand
Many modern motorcycles have a single-arm swingarm. They cannot be jacked up with a conventional motorcycle jack. Therefore, there is the so-called single-arm stand. It was specially designed for this type of motorcycle swing arm. Important: Before buying, make sure that it can be inserted into the wheel hub on the right and left. You will also need the appropriate stand mount. Usually you have to order it separately.
The centre stand
As already mentioned, fewer and fewer bikes have their own center stand. You can easily compensate for this with a sturdy centre stand. With this helper you can lift the entire bike and bring it to a comfortable working height. When jacking up the bike, it is important to hold it in position with one hand. This prevents the bike from tipping sideways.
Bobbins, swingarm adapters or prism sockets
Motocross riders have not wanted to do without bobbins, high-quality racing adapters or prism bushings for a long time. The situation is similar in racing. In our shop you can get bobbins in different designs and sizes. If you opt for a model with crash protection, they will protect your vehicle from major damage in case of a crash or an involuntary trip into the gravel bed of the race track.
The bobbins are available in great colours such as black, gold or silver. The bobbins themselves are manufactured with high precision by CNC milling machines. This guarantees consistent quality and accuracy of fit.
How do you jack up your bike properly?
Your TecBike Shop has a wide range of tools to help you set up and jack up your bike safely. Regardless of whether you use a motorcycle rocker, a central stand or an assembly stand, it is easier if you use two people
You push the motorcycle jack with the correct holders as far as possible under the swingarm of your rear wheel. While a helper holds on to the front, you push the handlebar of the jack down completely. Your bike is now securely in place.
If the rear swingarm does not offer a suitable receptacle, you can use so-called prism socketsand stand receptacles. In principle the jacking up is done in the same way as already described. Important: The special V-shaped mounts must fit exactly.
Before you start working with a jack, we have put together a few tips for you that you should bear in mind:
- Gravel, sand or grass are generally taboo for jacking up, so only jack up the machine on solid ground.
- Don't do things at an angle: If your motorcycle is at an angle, even the slightest jostle can be enough to cause it to tip over. Therefore, make sure that the ground is level and firm.
- If you jack up alone: Fix the front brake with a rubber or a belt so that the machine does not roll away to the front and fall over when jacked up.
- Clean the swingarm: Otherwise the rubber mounts can slip off on greasy or oily surfaces.
- Protect the swingarm: It is best to tape off the arm of the swingarm on the chain side. This way, a falling chain cannot cause scratches when dismounting the bike.
- Determine the basic setting of the assembly stand: To do this, a helper holds the bike straight. Now you can adjust the jack optimally to the width and height of the machine.
- Loosen the screws before jacking up. If the bike does not rotate freely in the air, it is easier and safer to loosen the screws and tighten them again later.
- For your first time: Four hands are always safer than two!
